Questions, questions...?

Perhaps your question has already been answered here...

Who is Hollie B. and how does she know what she knows?

ImageI am Hollie B.  I was the sole owner of Canberra's only WitchCraft and Occult Store between 2004-2008 until I shut up shop and went underground! I've worn many hats in the Magickal and alternative communities for many years, including, Priestess of the Goddess, PAN representative, circle space holder, workshop facilitator, event organiser, tarot reader, GAIA Founding Member, healer, and Witch. More recently I've spent the past thirteen months refocusing my Purpose, and now choose to wear beautiful bonnets of Wife, Mother, Friend, Company Director, Gardener, Woman and Witch.

My Magickal journey started as a teenager following my mother along to Reiki workshops (often held in our home) and all manner of spiritual seminars and retreats in my early years. I made a dedication to WitchCraft when I was sixteen years old, and my faith and insight has constantly grown, shifted and been refocused since then. I have been surrounded by amazing healers and spiritual people since an early age, and I take as much  learning from those people, as from my more recent experiences, workshops, conferences, seminars, books and everyday experiences. My overall vision for Lunation has always been one of ethical and sustainable business practise, while specialising in Practical SpellCraft and Vibrational Healing in the form of Botanicals and Sacred Art.

Why can't we contact you through the website anymore?

We receive a great deal of spam through the contact form, and find it difficult to manage this. I have also found over the years that often people use the contact form for questions that could have been otherwise answered if they had spent a little more time searching. Of course, at times there are genuine needs to make contact, and if this is the case, you can do so through the post at Lunation Store, Att: Hollie B., PO Box 3152, Weston Creek, ACT, 2611

Why did it take so long to reopen your Online Store???

When Lunation Store closed our 'bricks and mortar' doors, we thought it wouldn't be long until the new website was up and running. But that was obviously not what was to be! My time has been taken up with supporting my health, getting married, and spending a lot of needed time with my family. I have needed this time to focus my attentions on the ins and outs of Lunation and how best to move forward in the future. I am very thankful for the many letters of support and questions about reopening, and can promise you that this time has been well taken so that Lunation Store, is now in Divine Order!

Why don't we see you at events anymore?

It is true that I've become quite insular over the past year, needing time to recover both physically and emotionally from the years in the 'bricks and mortar store' and also from being such a 'public' figure in the Magickal and alternative spirituality communities. It is now time to focus close to home, now caring for a husband and five children (not to mention the awesome  Lunation Bengal cats, the rabbits and the chickens!), as well as creating and nurturing a sustainable backyard space. After all of that, there just doesn't seem to be much time for outside activities, but who knows what the future will bring!

Why don't you sell books and statues anymore?

When Lunation Store was in the 'bricks and mortar' form (between 2004-2008) we specialised in amazing books and statues focusing on magick, spirituality and myth. Now our focus has become tunnelled into the Natural World of magick and aesthetics, and how the energies can help the individual be happy in the whole. There are many other places these same products are available, and you can find a list of resources here for further reading.

What happened to The Goddess Shrine?

In the 'bricks and mortar' form of Lunation Store, the temple included a large Shrine in dedication to the Goddess. When we closed, the Shrine was dismantled and boxed up. Some items were carried to other Shrines and Altars around Australia. What is left has been placed into a more intimImageate space in the new Lunation premises (which at this time is not open to the public, but may be in the future). Our new premises includes a sacred labyrinth for walking, a Store space / Studio and a beautiful garden. So, in one way, The Goddess Shrine has actually expanded!

Who is “the Goddess” and why do you use that term?

You may know 'the Goddess' by another name. Perhaps to you She is God, the Creator, the Universe, the Divine, the Sacred, Mother Earth, Creatrix, Shiva... At Lunation we choose to image the Divine Force as Goddess, because we believe that the image of a Female Force as “Creator of all that is”, makes the most sense. As humans we are bound by language, and depending who we are and what we have identified with in our lives we will use language in different ways. Please feel free to interchange the term 'Goddess' with whatever you are comfortable with.

What is Magick?

Magickal practices abound from every ancient culture and faith on Earth. At Lunation our Magickal Practises draw on the wisdom & symbolism of the Ancients while also utilising various modern traditions including Hoodoo, Wicca & aspects of the Natural & Vibrational Healing Movement. We combine this with ways of SpellCrafting that promote Modern Practicality for everyday life.

Can anyone do Magick?

Anyone who puts enough learning, focus and intent into a Magickal Working will be able to ‘Make Magick’. Types of things that may hinder Magick from working include lack of focus, lack of purpose, being unsure or unclear of intent, lack of confidence in the work or the practitioners ability to do the work, using ingredients not suitable to the desired outcome, or simply a lack of trust in Self.

Will someone at Lunation cast a spell for me?

No. However, there is a range of Free Spells, available with the purchase of Botanical products,  which take you on a step by step journey to making your own magick!  Check the Spells For Sale page to find Free Spells and purchase all of the needed ingredients for each one. We believe you will find this resource helpful in trying out the powers of Magick . You may also be attracted to my Sacred SpellartImagewhich combine magickal symbolism and Botanicals with art. These Sacred Spellart works have their own vibration, and there may be one waiting especially for you and your Purpose in our Store

Isn't a “Spell Kit” a bad idea, because the person using it might not understand what kind of powers they are playing with!?

Some magickally-minded people believe that making spells and spell kits for sale is a bad idea, and that no Magick Shop should sell spell kits, because then "anyone can use them." The fact is, that 'anyone' should and can be able to use Magick. Lunation intends that our Spells For Sale are directed to help those people who want to have Magick in their lives but are either not experienced or just not confident enough to create their own Spells. This is why Lunation Store is called the place to 'make your own magick'!

All of the ingredients and incantations have been written as  a specific Spell by Hollie B. for exclusive purposes, and still require the individual practitioner to utilise his / her own intention and focus to ensure the Spell's success.

Furthermore, buying a ready-made-spell means that you will have all the appropriate curios that you will need for the work in mind. Spells For Sale at Lunation is a convenient way to do Magick, while still allowing for any creative additions you happen to come up with for your own working.

If you're not sure about purchasing a Spells For Sale product, perhaps you would prefer the Sacred Spellart section of our website, where my creations are available for purchase, and are purpose made to focus on a SpellCrafting need. You can have a spell on your wall instead!

Where can I get more information about making magick?

Lunation has published a Botanical Grimoire Binder. It has everything you need to start. Check it out at the Online Store >>>

WhImagey doesn't Hollie B. do consults anymore?

I've spent the past year, since the closure of the 'bricks and mortar store' in deep consultation with my spirit, in order to work out what is best for the future of the business, and for myself. At this time, I am choosing not to do consults, including readings, because that is what's best for me and my family. It is possible this will change in the future, but just as possible that it will not! Stay tuned for a new range of online workshops and  circles though!

Why use Herbes in Magick?

Herbe Magick is the use of herbs to cause needed changes. Different botanicals (which includes crystals and other ‘natural’ objects) contain energies, vibrations or powers that are each as distinct as a person is indivdual. When these energies are focused and directed at a particular intention, by choosing herbs that possess the vibrations that match the specific need, Magick occurs.

How do I know if my Spell will work?

Creating a Spell takes knowledge. Performing a Spell takes focus, purpose, clear intention and most of all; belief. If you believe what you are doing is right for you, and you can focus your intention wholely, your Spell will work. Sometimes spells don't work the way you expect them to, which is why it is so very important to be clear in your intention and purpose. As a rule of thumb, always ask for the Spell you are crafting to work toward your divine purpose and the highest will of the Goddess. A spell with such an intention will always get the Perfect result.

But I believe the Universe provides exactly what I need exactly when I need it, so why bother going to all of that SpellCrafting effort?

Magick is not only about putting a bag of herbes and related items together, lighting a coloured candle and fulfilling all of your dreams immediately. By choosing to do SpellCrafting, you are telling the Goddess “YES, Now I am ready and I am asking for assistance to go ahead in my Divine Flow!” Magick is the bigger picture; what we have been working toward for our whole lives. Your SpellCrafting is a way to focus where you are in this moment, and move forward from there. Personal Free Choice is always a part of our journeys in this life. You have the right to make Your Choice and then get out of your own way so that the 'Universe' can make it happen for you.

Why are there so many herbes that do the same job? For example, you have a long list of herbes in the Best Luck section of your Store? How can they all be for the same purpose?

Everything on the Earth has its own energy and consciousness. When it comes to natural healing, we find the right herbes or treatment for the indivdual. SpellCrafting is very much the same.  Everything has a subtle difference, and those subtle differences make Botanicals individual. The Plant & Mineral Botanicals each have their own vibration, and different people will be attracted to the different Botanicals dependant on where they are vibrating at that time, and what they need.

Why do you include a section on Hexes? Isn't casting negative things on other people bad?

Hexes, Jinxes or Crossings have always been an active part of Magickal practises across the world. Whether or not you should participate in Crafting a Spell in such a way is only known by you at your Highest Truth. Remember that free will and personal choice is always in effect, and the energy you create in the world is your responsibility. We at Lunation suggest that it is best to avoid Hexing if you are a novice in magick, as you may not be aware of the 'bigger picture' of your workings. Perhaps instead you might try to work on a Spell that will enhance your own benefits, rather than trying to make someone else's life more difficult.

Why are candles significant?

Candle Magick has been called 'Sympathetic Magick' which basically means Magick that follows the 'like attracts like' principle. A Magick Spell uses Candle Magick by burning different types of candles and manipulating them in various ways, thus influencing people and things around the petitioner (Spell Caster).

A candle may be used as a part of a longer list of ingredients in a spell, or the act of burning the candle may be the Spell itself!

What is the significance of Colour?

Each colour in the spectrum has a vibration all of its own, just as each botanical, and each individual person has. By matching a meaningful colour to your SpellCrafting you are enabling your overall work to be enhanced. You might feature colour by choosing a coloured candle, or wearing a specific colour, or even just visualising it while you are working on your Spell. Colour is so very sacred!

Typically in Magick there are three types of colour representations that are most common. You may choose to utilise this list, or find what works especially for you at this time:

Astral Colour Magick is where the colour represents the person who is casting the Spell, or who the Spell is for. This may be chosen by the person's birth date, or their favourite colour, or anything else that relates to the individuality of the particular person.

Day Colour Magick is where the colour represents the day on which the Spell is being cast. Most often a SpellCaster will choose a particular day to cast a Spell because it represents their intention best.

Offertory Colour Magick is where the colour is symbolic of the type of Spell being cast. Each colour aligns to different types of energies. An Offertory Colour draws upon this Magickal Symbolism

I thought the Elements were Wood, Fire, Metal, Water, Earth? Why do you use different representations?

Most modern-day Witches work with the Five Elements, Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Spirit. Witches believe that everything that is on the Earth is made up of all of these five. Therefore, it is said, the Elements are Sacred, because they sustain all life.

Most modern-day Witches work with the Five Elements, Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Spirit. This list has been borrowed from traditional Western Magickal Arts. The other list you have mentioned in your question is from Eastern Magicks and healing, and is different , but just as valid. Hollie's training is primarily in the Western styles of Magick, and this is the Elemental usage she has adopted.

In Magick the Elements are called upon to lend extra powers to the SpellWork. Different Elements have particular energies they are each associated with.

You may call upon the Elements by using appropriately chosen symbols connected to each, and display them in your Magickal Working. (Symbols are so very important to Spellcrafting!) For example, for water a Chalice may be used, or a statue of a mermaid. For Earth you might use appropriate crystals. For Air incense is most common, but feathers or faeries are just as appropriate. Always use candles for Fire, plus other images you feel necessary.

Where can I learn about this list of Elements and their associations?

Here are the basics for you to start with:

AIR: Wisdom, Intellect, Knowledge, New life, Intuition, Cleansing, Travel, Freedom

FIRE: Transformation, Creativity, Passion, Lust, Sexuality, Purifying, Courage, Letting Go

WATER: Emotions, Love, Dreams, Divination, Marriage, Pleasure, Happiness, Healing

EARTH: Family, Fertility, Money, Jobs, Friendship, Luck & Fortune, Physical Strength, Legal Matters

SPIRIT: Religious Rites, Spirit Guides, Guidance, Protection, Peace

When working with the Elements, ask yourself what these properties and associations remind you of. What do you think about when reading the lists? What physical world objects, colours, sounds etc could represent these associations? This is the first step in working your own Spells.

What is Mojo Magick?

Most Australians have heard the word "mojo," but few know what it means.

A Mojo is "the staple amulet of African-American hoodoo practice, a flannel bag containing one or more magical items". It is most likely related to the West African word mojuba, meaning a prayer of praise and homage.

ImageA Mojo is used in modern Western WitchCraft and magick as a Spell you can carry. Some people might call it a "prayer in a bag". It also shares similarities with the Medicine Bag. There are many other names used to describe similar items, such as wanga, lucky hand, conjure bag, gris-gris and trick.

Mojo Bags in modern magick are filled with sacred or meaningful items, dressed with appropriate oils and spoken to with powerful words. This is how your empty Mojo Bag becomes a living, developed Spell, that works to your energies. What you put into the bag will depend upon the particular Spell, and what you need at this time.

Your Mojo Bag when prepared as a Spell should be worn on your person, and it is said that the better hidden your Mojo Bag is, the more powerful the Spell will be. In reality, how you use your Mojo will depend entirely on the type of Spell you are casting, and the type of outcome you are hoping for.

Lunation’s Mojo Bags are made in Australia out of high-quality flannel / flannelette in various colours. All bags have a draw-string, long enough to tie for hanging after it is pulled tightly closed.
